2023 Honda Civic Type R At Nurburgring Track
The 2023 Honda Civic Type R, the fastest and most powerful Honda vehicle ever offered in the U.S., has achieved lap records at two renowned racetracks: Suzuka and Nürburgring Nordschleife. This new Civic Type R, representing the pinnacle of Honda factory performance, has demonstrated its exceptional capabilities by setting a new track record for a front-wheel drive car1 around the challenging 20.8-kilometer Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany. During testing and performance evaluation, the Civic Type R achieved an officially measured lap time of 7 minutes 44.881 seconds2, showcasing its improved dynamic performance compared to its predecessor. Captured on in-car video, this record-setting lap highlights the remarkable achievements of the new Civic Type R.
During the record-setting lap at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, the Civic Type R3 utilized specially designed Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 Connect tires. These tires were developed in collaboration with Michelin, drawing upon their expertise gained from creating the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S, which serves as the standard tire for the turbocharged hot hatch. These high-performance tires, available through Honda dealers, significantly enhance the circuit performance of the vehicle. They offer improved dry grip, further augmenting the Type R’s already well-balanced handling capabilities.
