The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has awarded seven new Honda models with their highest safety ratings. New 2017 Honda CR-V, Ridgeline, Accord Sedan and Pilot models (when equipped with Honda Sensing and LED headlights) have received the 2017 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ ratings. New 2017 Accord Coupe, Civic Coupe and Civic Sedan models (when equipped with Honda Sensing) have received the 2017 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK ratings.

In order to earn an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ ratings vehicles must pass and earn a GOOD rating in small overlap front, moderated overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraint crash tests. The 2017 Honda CR-V received the best 2017 IIHS ratings with a top rating of GOOD in all five IIHS crash test modes. Vehicles qualifying for TOP SAFETY PICK+ ratings must also be equipped with a front crash prevention system that earn ADVANCED or SUPERIOR ratings. Headlights on these models must also pass IIHS tests with an ACCEPTABLE or GOOD rating. Vehicles that are awarded IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK ratings must meet and exceed new stringent 2017 ratings requirements.

2017 Honda Civic Type R Makes its Debut
The new 2017 Honda Civic Type R recently made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show. This long-awaited model is expected to go on sale in the U.S. later this Spring. It will be the first ever Type-R badged Honda to be sold on American soil and it will make its U.S. Debut at the New York Auto Show on April 12, 2017.
This new, race inspired Civic carries over the hatchback body design of the Honda Civic 5-door model. It will feature a U.S.-built 2.0-liter DOHC, direct-injected and turbocharged i-VTEC in-line 4-cylinder engine. It is expected to deliver 306 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 295 lb.-ft. of torque from 2,500 to 4,500 rpm. The powerful engine will be mated with a short-throw 6-speed manual transmission with rev matching capability for smoother gear shifts and better power delivery.
Drivers of the new 2017 Honda Civic Type R will have a choice of three driving modes: Comfort, Sport and +R. These driver selectable modes adjust steering and throttle response, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA). transmission rev-matching and an Adaptive Damper System. The new Damper system provides a range of variability for ride comfort and dynamic handling response.
This new model has a more rigid body structure than the 2017 Honda Civic hatchback. It has an enhanced steering response and cornering stability with reduced body vibration and cabin noise. Interior features include heavily bolstered sports seats, aluminum shift knob, aluminum sport pedals, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift boot. The grille, seats and console are all emblazoned with the sport Type R logo, so absolutely no one will mistake this sporty new Honda for a previous generation Civic.
