New Honda Civic Type R Unveiled

Honda has just unveiled a new prototype vehicle, the Civic Type R at the Paris auto show. This radical new Honda model is the next generation Civic to follow in the footsteps of the all-new Civic Hatchback. The new Type R prototype offers insight into future styling of sporty Honda models still to come. With a similar body structure to the new 2017 Civic five-door hatchback, the Type R has a low and wide stance with muscular styling and aerodynamic lines.

Impressive exterior features on this new model include an aggressive front fascia, accentuated with a winged carbon fiber splitter and a sporty red accent line. Prominently placed on the front grille is a striking, iconic red “H” badge that will be prevalent on all new Type R models. The front fascia is flanked by slatted ducts that expand and accentuate the wide appearance.

The Type R hood houses an intake with a centrally placed air scoop in a trapezoidal recess. This functional design element increases engine efficiency and adds to the aggressive look of the car. Other aggressive styling features include carbon-fiber side skirts that run the length of the side sills and sultry smoked lenses for the LED headlights. More carbon-fiber surrounds the diffuser that runs below the wide, rear fascia and one of the three fully functional tailpipes is highlighted in bright metallic red. To complete the unique look of this new prototype, Honda has added a sporty rear wing across the top of the hatchback door.
